Everything about how it works — from the photo you send to the print on your wall.
Place your order first — no payment yet. Tell us the round (your name, the course, the hole, the day, and a photo from the tee if you have one), and our studio paints a first look at your actual hole. We email you one free watermarked preview, usually within about 12 hours. If you love it, make that portrait yours and choose a framed or unframed print. Your preview stays as one of five choices; after payment we prepare four alternate versions. Pick your favorite and we finish the composition with a printed cream border, gold keyline, and inscription. Nothing prints until you approve.
No problem. For famous courses we can paint from our own reference, and for others our studio will source a suitable reference for you. A photo from the tee gives the most personal result, but it’s not required.
Five styles, from loose watercolor to a bold post-impressionist treatment — classic watercolor, oil, impressionist, post-impressionist, and vintage golf poster. You’ll see your hole painted in your chosen style before you commit.
Each portrait is painted digitally in our studio. We start from a real photo of your actual hole — yours, or one we source — render it in your chosen style with our image tools, and review every piece by hand before it reaches you. The free preview remains one of your choices; after payment, we prepare four alternate versions. Nothing goes to print until you approve one.
Framed prints start at $109; unframed prints start at $49. Shipping is included. You choose your size and frame finish at checkout.
After payment, we send the complete set — your original preview plus four alternatives — within about 2–4 business days. Digital files are delivered as soon as you approve a proof. Framed prints are made to order — typically about a week to make and ship, then about 2–5 business days in transit. These are estimates, since each piece is made individually.
We currently ship physical prints — framed and unframed — within the United States, produced and delivered by our print partner in Course Portraits packaging. Digital downloads are available anywhere. Outside the US? Email us at hello@courseportraits.comand we’ll see what we can do.
It’s made for gifting. All you really need is their course and their name — the hole helps, and a story (a birthday round, a hole-in-one, the Sunday game) makes the inscription theirs, but none of it is required. You’ll see the free preview yourself before paying, so there’s no risk of gifting something you haven’t seen. The preview email comes to you, not to them, so the surprise keeps.

The free preview arrives in about 12 hours; after payment, proofs take about 2–4 business days, and a framed print typically needs about a week to make and ship plus transit. For a birthday or holiday, starting about two weeks ahead is comfortable. Cutting it close? The digital file is delivered the moment you approve — some gifters print a card with the artwork and let the framed piece follow.
Approving a proof sends it into production, so it can’t be changed after that. That’s exactly why we proof first — if anything’s off, tell us and we’ll revise until it’s right, before you approve.
Because each portrait is custom-made, we can’t take returns for a change of mind — but we’ll replace any print that arrives damaged or defective, free of charge, within 30 days. Full details on the Returns & Refunds page.
We use it only to create your portrait. To paint it, your photo is processed by our image-generation provider, and we keep it with your order for delivery and reprints. You can ask us to delete it once your order is complete — see our Privacy Policy.
