Everything about how it works — from the photo you send to the print on your wall.
Add a photo if you have one. While you tell us about the course, we prepare quick studies of your photo in five painting styles — pick the one you’d love on your wall. Without a photo, you can choose a style using example studies and request help finding a reference. No payment yet. With a suitable photo, our studio reviews the crop, composition, and inscription, then emails a finished watermarked preview, usually within 12 hours. If we need to find a reference, we’ll follow up first. If you love it, make that portrait yours and choose a framed or unframed print. After payment we also prepare alternate versions, so your preview stays one of several choices. Pick your favorite and we finish the composition with a printed cream border, gold keyline, and inscription. Nothing prints until you approve.
No problem. Tell us the course and we’ll check for a suitable reference, then follow up by email. Without your own photo, you’ll see example studies to help you choose a style. A photo from the tee gives the most personal result, but it isn’t required to send a request.
Five styles, from loose watercolor to a bold post-impressionist treatment — classic watercolor, oil, impressionist, post-impressionist, and vintage golf poster. Add a photo to explore studies of it as the styles become ready. You can choose an available style or ask the studio to follow up. You’ll see a finished preview in your chosen style before you pay.
Each portrait is painted digitally in our studio. We start from a real photo of your actual hole — yours, or one we source — render it in your chosen style with our image tools, and review every finished piece by hand before it reaches you. The quick style studies you see while ordering are a first impression of each style, not the finished painting. The free preview remains one of your choices; after payment, we prepare alternate versions. Nothing goes to print until you approve one.
Each piece is hand-framed. Choose Matte Black, Natural Oak, Walnut, or Antique Gold at checkout.

With a suitable photo, your free preview usually arrives within 12 hours. If we need to find a reference, we’ll confirm the next step by email. After payment, we send the complete set — your preview plus alternate versions — within about 2–4 business days. Digital files are delivered as soon as you approve a proof. Framed prints are made to order — typically about a week to make and ship, then about 2–5 business days in transit. These are estimates, since each piece is made individually.
We currently ship physical prints — framed and unframed — within the United States, produced and delivered by our print partner in Course Portraits packaging. Digital downloads are available anywhere. Outside the US? Email us at hello@courseportraits.com and we’ll see what we can do.
It’s made for gifting. All you really need is their course and their name — the hole helps, and a story (a birthday round, a hole-in-one, the Sunday game) makes the inscription theirs, but none of it is required. You’ll see the free preview yourself before paying, so there’s no risk of gifting something you haven’t seen. The preview email comes to you, not to them, so the surprise keeps.

After payment, proofs take about 2–4 business days, and a framed print typically needs about a week to make and ship plus transit. For a birthday or holiday, starting about two weeks ahead is comfortable. Cutting it close? The digital file is delivered the moment you approve — some gifters print a card with the artwork and let the framed piece follow.
Approving a proof sends it into production, so it can’t be changed after that. That’s exactly why we proof first — if anything’s off, tell us and we’ll revise until it’s right, before you approve.
Because each portrait is custom-made, we can’t take returns for a change of mind — but we’ll replace any print that arrives damaged or defective, free of charge, within 30 days. Full details on the Returns & Refunds page.
We use it only to create your portrait. To paint it, your photo is processed by our image-generation provider. Unsubmitted walkthrough photos and style studies are available for seven days, then scheduled for deletion. Once you send a request, we keep your original photo and any selected study with your order for delivery and reprints. You can ask us to delete it once your order is complete — see our Privacy Policy.
